This C-SPAN caller thinks Russia meddled, and she’s glad about it

Back to the “but” rule again. Ignore everything before the but:

“I want to thank the Russians for interfering with our election to stop Hillary Clinton from becoming president,”

The use of but is nearly always used to hide something, removing the stuff before but makes the message more clear.

This is no surprise to anyone as every single one of you has multiple people in your extended family that have said this exact same thing. This is the opinion of the average American in 2018. She is not an outlier.

As I’ve been saying for awhile conservatives hate their liberal countrymen more than they love their country. If Russia attacked America that’s fine as long as they just attacked the liberals.

What do you call 1000 liberals at the bottom of the ocean? A good start.

Six degrees of Donald Trump. That's creepy. I should record that on my phone and play it to Trump supporters to see their reaction live.

They would attack the "liberals" just as the 9-11 perps did because they are concentrated in our biggest population centers. I think it goes without saying they wouldn't skip over the blue coastal areas to attack the red interior states like Utah.

I saw this and shook my head. She's worried about sounding awful yet somehow not at all worried about sounding completely stupid.

That doesn't really apply in this case as I was referring to Russia's attack on our elections.

No! Not the "average American". I do not and will not accept that the Trumpublicans are "average Americans" they are beneath average, they are the scum of the earth/country. They are the dregs of American society. The only shocker is that there's a surprisingly high number of them and that breaks my heart. You're wrong dank.

I never thought I would see the day where a good number of Americans are willing turn over control of their own country to a foreign power. For any reason.

They think they would be. They want to believe they would be but there are only a small group of Americans who would truly be ok with it.

Well that’s a chicken and egg thing. When you have coastal liberals constantly looking down on the “fly over states”, with Democrat candidates dismissing then as “deplorables”, and also categorizing military service as “white welfare” for states that hold service in high regard, it is no surprise that they gravitated towards the pied piper candidate that promised to stigginit.

While there's certainly mutual antipathy I do not think it is symmetric. I mean if you think that name calling and such is the reason why members of one party dislike the other I'll see your 'deplorables' and raise you about 10,000 insane and vile things Republicans have said about liberals. I used to listen to right wing talk radio for about 5 hours a day when I worked at a defense contractor and that shit is bananas.

This also deprives conservatives of agency. They supported Trump because they wanted to support Trump, not because liberals were mean to them. You don't see a Trump on the liberal side despite the decades of crazed insults the right has thrown at them because liberals don't respond to things in the same personalized, identity politics way that conservatives do. (identity politics certainly exists on the left, but it is the defining feature of politics on the right. policy is largely irrelevant to conservatives)

Partisanship is driving a powerful delusion that Russia did nothing wrong. And until a Republican stands against Trump - the faithful will continue to identify with Trump. For those who are not yet lost, they need a leader to follow. To push back against the tide of insanity. Else Trump will continue to dominate their ID, and their Ego will continue to poison their minds as it is constantly rewriting sanity and logic to make up whatever excuse is needed to protect the ID.

And with the depravity that is Trump, those leaps in logic require monumental departures from reality. Insanity is full speed ahead. They may not all be lost, not yet, but who is going to show them the light? Who is going to save the Republican identity from Trump?

Well after seeing/hearing Trump in action for what feels like an eternity in hell, it seems that sadism/masochism and a total lack of compassion, morals and ethics is required to have a liking for him so I think I'll pass on that.
