This black pastor should have listened to Michelle Obama...

In the land of tolerant liberals... a Chicago area pastor had the misfortune of appearing in an ad for a Republican candidate. I suppose he was driven by the extremely high unemployment of black youths in the area. His desire to effect change in his community has led him to receive death threats and be called a "token ni@@er."

http://chicagosuntimes.com/news/south-side-pastor-who-backs-bruce-rauner-has-church-broken-into/

If only he had listened to michelle obama he could be enjoying fried chicken after voting democrat down the list.... "regardless of who said what or did" ... that dies not matter as long as their is a D next to their name. Apparently a politician should not be judged on their ability to do their job.

So this is a result. Getting threatened with a beat down in front of your congregation... probably by the same unemployed youth he was trying to help.

On the bright side, the democrats don't have to take responsibility for employment (first it was the financial crisis, now it will be a republican in office). They'll play the victim and be back for a rematch in 2016 on the basis that the republicans are waging an undeclared war on some part of the electorate.

Corey Brooks pastors a church in Chicago's South Side. He also happens to be black. Recently, ABC News reported Sunday, he joined a group of black pastors who support GOP gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner over Democrat Pat Quinn. As a result, he has received death threats, hateful voicemails and has had to move his family to a safe house. Additionally, his church has been vandalized and large amounts of money earmarked for charities has been stolen.

Brooks said that he received five threatening messages on Friday that he turned over to police. The messages, ABC added, were homophobic and contained racial slurs.

"We own you and you ain't got nobody that can stop us," one message said. "Nobody!"

...Late Friday, thieves broke into his church and stole some $8,000 from a donation box. In the process, they busted out the church's glass doors.

The pastor wants change...

Why does the Democratic Party feel threatened by that?

"happens to be black"

The only way the black communities are going to help themselves is by going back to the basics. That means valuing education, supporting strong families, and bringing back small businesses. As it stands now, black youth are more likely to end up in jail, pregnant, and dead.

Both Republicans/Democrats aren't going to be able to fix the problem. To be honest, I don't think it will ever be fixed. The issues run too deep.

The government will never allow the black community to thrive. The government will pay single moms 50k per year and tax married moms 10k per year if that's what it takes. They'll ramp up the war on drugs and lock up twice as many black men if that's what it takes. The black community must be kept down at all cost. Literally. It costs hundreds of billions of dollars, including opportunity cost, to keep them down, but the government says it must be done.

The solution is less government, but that's impossible to do. Some people, maybe even most people, are textbook psychopaths. There is no way to convince American voters that people should be left alone. People shouldn't be searched without cause or a warrant, people shouldn't be arrested for smoking weed, people shouldn't be arrested for selling whole milk, people shouldn't be arrested for collecting rain water. As long as America contains humans, it will contain humans that want to make life miserable for all of the other humans.

Asians living in the same slums manage to rise above them, so I don't think it's impossible if "the black community*" decides to value education, hard work, and the principles that made this nation great.

One thing government can and should do is fix the damn inner city schools. If that takes competition via vouchers, so be it. A kid can be absolutely determined to succeed, but she can't read books that aren't there or have a teacher explain what the teacher doesn't understand.

* I hate the phrase "the black community" - I think most black folks value those things now. They just don't get the press - you aren't "authentically black" unless you live in the hood or at least are vocally "down for the struggle" or similar stupid slogans.

This.

You are what you value. Education, family, and personal success unfortunately aren't something the black community values as a whole.

Not anymore. It's both sad and amazing to see how fast black communities declined since the 1960s.

Not all African Americans are gang bangers.

Charles Barkley took a controversial stand on race this weekend in response to reports that Seattle Seahawks players believe quarterback Russell Wilson is not “black enough.” In an interview with a Philadelphia radio station, the NBA Hall of Famer pointed to blacks as the reason for lack of success in their own communities...

Calling the phenomena a “dirty dark secret” among blacks, Barkley also stated that black athletes go broke because they try to appease their naysayers. He also disputed the glorification of the “thug” persona, calling it a result of brainwashing.

“And for some reason, we are brainwashed to think if you’re not a thug, or an idiot, you’re not black enough,” he said. “If you go to school, make good grades, speak intelligent, and don’t break the law, you’re not a good black person.”

Whether or not you agree with Charles Barkley, I think that we can all agree that when young people are criticized for going to school, making good grades, speaking intelligently, and not breaking the law something has gotten off track...

 I'm not sure what this has to do with being democrat or retardican.

We tend to look at government to fix issues. I was just stating that issues that are now plaguing the African community runs too deep. They are going to have to do it alone. Nobody else can fix these serious issues.

Barkley is correct. Comedian Bill Cosby also made similar statements a few years ago, and he was also criticized.
