Is this kit here good enough for a low end system? Or should I consider something else(my budget is 400$ or less).

Wow... $400. That's a tight budget. Do you have any other components at all? (monitor, keyboard, speakers...) At that tight a budget, every little bit helps. You might be able to do better buying separate components, but I don't know what else you've got.

You may be better off purchasing someone's older system they want to get rid of. I'm sure someone on the forums here has a $400 setup they are wanting to sell. My issue with barebones systems like those is that they usually consist of low-end parts, which go bad and need replacing. This is the same reason those of us who still remember Packard Hell, remember it not too fondly.

Try posting your price limit, and what you are looking for on the "For Sale/Trade" forum, you may be surprised with what you can find. In my experience, all the members on this board have been honest and helpful.

If that doesn't appeal to you, try looking around for a barebones system that comes with some name brand equipment, especially for the motherboard.

Hope that helps!

Might be an OK deal. Some on this board even think it is a h o t deal.

The motherboard gets an OK. A 533fc/566 celeron will usually get 800/850 with a 100 mhz FSB setting. The video card has some of the best 2D around; a little dated on the 3D side, but probably better than most integrated vid setups. Win2000 driver 8.40.03 is said to work in XP.

But, you have a ways to go to make a system. $$$$
