UPDATE! the bastard was fired.

http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/11/08/michigan.asst.attorney.general/index.html?hpt=T1
CNN) -- An assistant attorney general in Michigan is out of a job, fired after targeting an openly gay University of Michigan student leader online and in person -- then lying about his actions to investigators -- state Attorney General Mike Cox said Monday.

Andrew Shirvell "repeatedly violated office policies, engaged in borderline stalking behavior and inappropriately used state resources," Cox said.

CNN) -- For nearly six months, Andrew Shirvell, an assistant attorney general for the state of Michigan, has waged an internet campaign against college student Chris Armstrong, the openly gay student assembly president at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Using the online moniker "Concerned Michigan Alumnus," Shirvell launched his blog in late April.

"Welcome to 'Chris Armstrong Watch,'" Shirvell wrote in his inaugural blog post. "This is a site for concerned University of Michigan alumni, students, and others who oppose the recent election of Chris Armstrong -- a RADICAL HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVIST, RACIST, ELITIST, & LIAR -- as the new head of student government."

Among other things, Shirvell has published blog posts that accuse Armstrong of going back on a campaign promise he made to minority students; engaging in "flagrant sexual promiscuity" with another male member of the student government; sexually seducing and influencing "a previously conservative [male] student" so much so that the student, according to Shirvell, "morphed into a proponent of the radical homosexual agenda"; hosting a gay orgy in his dorm room in October 2009; and trying to recruit incoming first-year students "to join the homosexual 'lifestyle.'"

I don't know if I give the kid's family/friends credit for not kicking the shit out of this guy, or whether I think they are crazy for not kicking the shit out of him. The guy is clearly out of his mind, how the fuck does he still have his job? can't be for much longer...

I work for the University of Michigan, but damn what an ass. I honestly hope the state fires/censors this dude. I mean how can he properly be an assistant AG and even hope to claim to be objective and fair on matters concerning homosexuality. Defense attorneys could have a field day with this dude. All they would have to say is my client is homosexual and feels threatened by his blog posts.

I hope the state of Michigan muzzles this idiot

can someone explain to me how late April - late September = "nearly six months"?

Am I forgetting a thirteenth month somewhere?

ahhahahahhahahahhahahaha

Last week, this watch site reported that the Ann Arbor Police Department raided the so-called "gay rush" party that took place at the home of Chris Armstrong, a viciously militant homosexual activist who is (currently) the president of the Michigan Student Assembly (MSA)

LMAO

Started watching the Anderson Cooper interview and the moment the ADA opened his mouth and I heard his voice the gaydar went off!

He's clearly a closet homosexual who masks it with religion and hate speech.

EDIT:

LMAO again.

It's clear after listening to the whole interview that the ADA want's the student's penis in his mouth SO badly.

Watched that whole video..the dude is definitely closet gay and honestly I'm ashamed that he's an alumni...wow. Tolerance is a word that has no meaning to this man.

And it reaffirms what I said earlier. The state of Michigan needs to fire and/or censure this dude.

I dunno... to me, that still adds up to five.

If you add time to April it starts to get closer to 6 months. Six months also has a nice symmetry, so it would look better in an article. They may have used some creative rounding.

If I had been convicted by this guy I would immediately file an appeal under the grounds that the ADA was bat shit insane.

So apparently Anderson Coopers broadcast brought out repeated calls for this guys head from various news and editorial boards.

Michigan AG says he is not going to fire this guy because he's exercising free speech(yeah but what about his obvious bias? How can the state keep someone on the payroll that has no objective bias towards homosexuality)

He has been banned from the University of Michigan campus and apparently Chris Armstrong is now filing a restraining order against him. Smart move by the kid. Now he just needs to file a defamation of character lawsuit against this douche

LOL, seriously, that ADA is about as much in the "umm" closet as Richard Simmons.

I'm not sure if I'm more horrified by the absurdity of this clearly unbalanced person being an ADA, his claims, or that anyone would so vehemently care about student body politics.

Well, it is absolutely legal to have bias. You can hate Jews, blacks, etc, to your hearts content.
What you can't do is apply your bias to your job as d.a. Now, I think the guys blog was way over the top, but I don't think he did anything illegal.

I would expect his superiors to check his history to make sure he is not applying his bias in the official capacity.

Basically, free speech gives him the right to say what he wants, no matter how offensive. Which was the intent of the First Amendment.

Yes, you can say what you want, but there are consequences. He can be let go for "conduct unbecoming a state official." I think expressing a political view, even an unpopular one is ok. But I also think a very easy case can be made that an ADA who photoshopped a swastika onto a pic of a college kid is "unbecoming."

Oh, and his boss' name is Mike Cox. LOL.
