My scenerio?

I have Win2k and I am updating VIA drivers for my computer. Well, the way I have been going about them is uninstalling the old drivers manually or remotely try to uninstall them and then installing the new drivers. Somehow, I looked at the driver dates after I done so and they are the same! And when I try to uninstall the old VIA busmaster IDE drivers and install new ones, I get this INACCESSABLE BOOT ERROR and I can't boot at all, safe mode or regular mode.

In turn, I have to REINSTALL EVERYTHING over again and that is a PAIN!!!! I have my system all fine and this happens all because of a driver update.

Any advice on exactly how to go about future updates? The way I have tried to remove the old drivers is I run the old VIA driver setup and uninstall that way or go directly into the control panel and uninstalling them that way through device manager. But somehow, win2k reinstalls the old ones. (or I think it does)

Yeah, I did that once but the driver dates remained the same. How do I really know if the updates went through?

I had the same exact problem too.

It completely trashed Win2K and I had to fdisk and reinstall because I couldn't boot or repair Win2K.

Not every driver in new 4in1's is new. Sometimes it will just have a new IDE driver or a new AGP driver and the rest will be the same.

the driver pack only updates what can be updated. some drivers in a new pack may not have changed from previous version!
