Damn, even ceiling fans are getting hi tech now.... I just bought a new one for my place and installed in yesterday. Anyway, long story short... it came with a basic remote, 3 speeds setting and a light dimmer. I saw a better remote at Home Depot so I went back and bought it.... this thing is so freaking COOL! I preset the temp. to 70F and the fan will come on whenever it needs to keep my place around that temp, much like cruise control on a car. It also has an intelligent dimmer, so If I turn it off at 70% and it'll return to it's previous setting automatically. Ohhh and being a remote, I can keep it on my couch with all the other remotes.

I also installed a new digital thermistat for my heater which is pretty kewl. It's programmable, so I can set it to lower the temperature at night and have it toasty in the morning when I get out of my shower.

Anyway, if you have seen these new fangled stuff they have for ceiling fans, etc.... check em out, they are pretty damned cool!

Nice description of your fan - and all of the features. I was reading through the Sunday sale circulars and came across a remote-controlled power switch for your Christmas lights. The ad stated "turn your Christmas lights off from the comfort of your warm home." WTF? People can't run outside for 30 seconds and pull the plug? Instead, you purchase a remote-controlled device that you'll only use for 2 weeks out of the year?

I can keep it on my couch with all the other remotes.

Key questions here. Is there room for you to sit AND for all the other remotes? Or is the couch there to have a place to put them? How many remotes are we talking about?

I'm wondering what or who is controlling what or who!:p

Don't know about ceiling fans but I've been using a digital thermostat for years. Nice to be able to turn down (or up in the summer) the temps automatically while we're gone and then have it nice and comfy again when we get home. :)

We looked at the same fan for our house when we were building it. We put it off at the time, but I think after Christmas we are headed back to the Home Depot to pick one up. They are cool looking!
