I don't know much about computers and I want to get into PC gaming. I don't have a lot of money for a custom PC so this seems good for the price. but i would appreciate some experts input.

I'm not looking for anything amazing, just enough that I could play games on the PC. Even low settings on recent games, would be perfect for me.

Yea, it's good. Depending on your monitor of course. But that HD6670 will be good for 1280x720 or something close at medium-high settings. It will also play older games fine. Great deal at $399!

The video card is crap for gaming and who knows about the power supply. If you can't afford better it looks like a decent price and you can add a real video card later, but you'll need to make sure it doesn't overwhelm that power supply.

i use a 5770 and run most things at 1920x1080 just fine, so a 6670 will also be fine, especially at lower resolutions.

overall, $400 for that computer is a pretty damn good deal IMO. the CPU alone is like $200.

Echoing the sentiments of other posters out there: Nice deal! In the long run you may need to upgrade some components but it'll be plenty for you to start out with at this time.

I dont know what the exchange rate is, if that is in canadian dollars. But that price for that system if it is US dollars is impossible. Could it be a misprint or just a teaser that is always "out of stock"??

In US dollars, the cheapest Compaq dual core is always nearly 400.00 at best buy,and anything with a hexacore and discrete video card is around 900.00 or more.

The $CDN is slightly > $US right now.

NO!!!

It's mislabeled! The model # is listed as GUA106, and that is a entry-level PC! Don't buy it!

  • Processor Type: AMD Athlon II X2 260 3.2 GHz
  • Hard Drive Capacity: 500GB
  • Memory: 4GB DDR3
  • Graphics Controller: NVIDIA GeForce 7025 Onboard
  • Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

The GUA107 is listed at nearly twice as much as the GUA106.

if that's the case, that sucks. you can always call and double check though.

oddly enough it is listed as two different models. and i'm pretty sure they would be getting tons of calls from angry customers, considering they listed the wrong specs and model.

EDIT: I just contacted Best Buy and they said that it is probably just an error in the system because no matter what they search it returns them to the same computer. If the Specs don't match, I have up to 14 days to return it.

well if you do order let us know how it turns out. would be one hell of a deal if you did get the as-advertised computer 😀

I'm wondering but since this is built by CyberPowerPc the cards and hard drives would be separate from the Motherboard right?

The 5770 is a significantly more powerful video card. The 6670 is slightly better then a 5760 which is as low as you can go and still reasonably claim the thing is designed for gaming.

damn, i thought the 6670 was a rehashed 5770. im out of the loop these days 🙁

Might want to wait for June. The new AMD CPUs release and that could prompt some good deals on current stock. Companies will be selling their inventories to make room for the new stuff. Best thing to do is figure out how much you can afford to pay and then start looking and post in the General Hardware section and you'll get some good help. Meanwhile keep saving what money you can towards a new pc.

Yeah, I wouldn't doubt if that was the whole point of Cyberpower putting such a wimpy video card in an otherwise decent gaming rig. They may have been counting on people being confused by AMD's new numbering scheme into thinking it was a more powerful video card then it really is.

I looked up the card that's in this and while it may not be the greatest it's fairly good for gaming. Least that's what I've heard. And waiting, yeah I might come across better PCs but I don't think I'll find a PC that is this price anywhere, considering everything thats inside it.
