This a good deal?

Well if you do indeed get a rebate back it's a good deal. But if you don't get the rebate back it's not a good deal at all.

so, it sounds like it would be a bad gaming monitor, but for watching movies and just regular computer work it would be ok?

I've only heard bad news from this monitor. Grnated, I'm only going by word of mouth, but when posted in Hot Deals it was reported to be plagued with problems.

It's $114, I would not expect great reviews.

Yeah, but with an average of 5-6 dead pixels a monitor (some see as many as 10-12) a 33-50% chance of one arriving in working condition for some people, even $114 sounds kinda bad for it.

that brand of monitors is just plain bad. i've opened 6 boxes in a row, each of which had at least 1 dead pixel on it. Thats just unacceptable

That's pretty bad, what does a dead pixel look like?

A dead pixel is just a small black dot, or if it's a stuck pixel it'll be a dot that's stuck on a certain color (i.e., red, etc.).

One dead pixel is not too noticeable. Very annoying though imho. Two still wouldn't be terrible, but really anymore then that is just plain horrible. Just imagine little black dots on your screen all the time. You could probably find some pictures on google, most likely atleast, of some dead pixels so you can get an idea of what they look like.

I have one pixel at the bottom of my screen that stays white all the time, but it's out of the viewing area, any idea what it is?

One reviewer said that he ordered 30 of them for his company and all but one of them had defects. That's a pretty horrible ratio.
