im looking for a decent laptop to take to work when im stuck on call. i have a nice gaming desktop, but just need something for entertainment at work. i was looking at some dells, and an acer in bestbuy, and i found an hp that seemed like a decent machine for the money. essentially what i want to do is do some gaming (mostly WoW, maybe a little CoD4), and watch some movies (this laptop has a blu ray player). Im looking for a big company b/c my old laptop that just fried was an off company, and it was hard to get service or support (and i realize dell/ hp etc arent the greatest on customer support, but have to be better than my last). anyways, heres the laptop im looking at:

hp dv9740us

thoughts on this for my needs?

or if it sucks, any suggestions for something with that capability around or under 1400$?

The processor on that one is really lacking for a $1400 laptop. Do you need a 17" screen?

Ok that processor is just trash for that amount of money. If you really insist on having a Blue-Ray drive, then may I suggest looking at the Lenovo Thinkpad R-series.

There's a 15.4" model that includes a MUCH better processor, may I suggest T8300 at least, with practically the same specs for a couple hundred dollars less. Though if you get the 9-cell battery it will stick out a bit. They're 25% off as is, and an additional 15% can be had with CPP. I suggest you go to a site like Fatwallet.com for more info.
