A 335i in a pool would not be enough to get me out of a relaxing hot tub.

Now put a brand new M5 in that pool, I would be sobbing at the edge of the pool like a kid who just got his candy stolen!

On the freeway today I saw an M3 sedan. I have to say, its one of the prettiest sedans I have seen. It just works, it's flowing, the hood looks muscular, the back doors look great, it just looks good.

I prefer its looks to the M5, which is fortunate, because the next M5 is said to be styled on the M3 sedan. :Q

The M5 and the M3 are both good looking in their own way.

The guy in the M3 most of the time will be younger, and he does want to be noticed, he wants to tell people "HEY THIS IS AN M3 YO!"

The guy in the M5 is supposed to typically be an executive type of guy. The M5 is designed to make him look like he is driving some German cruiser, while under the hood, lies a relentless axe murderer but those who are supposed to notice are really only other German car connoisseurs which most of the time are neither cops nor other executives ;)
And if you do a de-badging job on the M5 no one will know from you driving by them....well unless you unleash the axe murderer under the hood of course :D

sorry but imo the e90 m3 sedan is fail in the looks department. the e92 is slightly better, but neither of them match the pure mean agressive look of the e46 m3. needs more visual differentiation

I think the M3 sedan looks like ass and doesn't look any more "special" than an Accord. The coupe looks a lot better.

I'm not sure how true that is; I've seen several M5s and last night I was driving home and I saw the rear end--not even the exhaust pipes, I saw the distinct rear, thought "M5, cool," looked down, saw quad pipes, saw badge, was right.

The M5 is distinctive. You'd be surprised at the cops too, they like cars--a good deal of them anyway, I'm sure. Friend was telling me how he got pulled one time because the cop wanted to know his tint levels, then asked him what kind of engine he was running and mods. :D

I thought the same, and I still prefer the coupe, but when I was coming up on this thing, I double checked my vision, trying to figure out if this was some other BMW, but it said M3 on the rear, and as I drove past, saw it was a sedan. It looked very nice, very sloping in the back, my memory almost makes me think it looked like a hatchback, but that can't be right.

I definitely like the coupe a lot better. My neighbor across the street has the sedan. It looks like a regular 3 except in the profile view (which I never get to see from here) because of the power dome and larger/darker wheels (the M exhausts don't do it for me). As for the M5... it can be one mean SOB too... pic pic2... he helped me with some of my X5 mods as he bought one for his wife too... funny thing is we ran into each other in town soon after... that thing is one badass-looking mofo in person, sounds good too with some rpi race exhaust. And no he's no executive type.

What did he do to it? It looks a bit too glitzy. Is that the photography aspect?

Ah ok, that looks pretty good. Something about M5s don't really do it for me--not with that color anyway. Maybe the cloudy sky doesn't help either. :p

That V10 is probably incredible to tune a bit, being that you have more than an 8k redline to begin with!

E46 M3> E90/2 M3

E46 looks more different than the regular 3's and is much more beautiful.

I like both in their own ways. The old M3 is more of an icon imo in terms that it has become the ultimate performance car a young guy might be able to afford, whereas the new M3 is a badass car that wealthy hip peeps drive for ultimate driving ecstasy.

LOL @ "wealthy hip peeps" :D

It would never have occurred to me to describe myself like that.

Well considering a new M3 is in the neighborhood of ~60k (?) I'd say pretty wealthy, yes.

That is kind of true, a guy driving a brand new M3 coupe/sedan is either wealthy....or in debt till his eyeballs!
