2. Don't most companies have "expectations" for the following year? Maybe even 5-10 years in advance? Based on how's it been selling for the first quarter this year I'm sure she can came up with a reasonable number. And, this is only helping her website gain traffic.

1. Her products are crappy because I wouldn't trust putting that crap on my head when there are hair products developed by companies with multi-million dollar R&D budgets and performance studies.

2. Yes, companies do have expectations. I've only clicked on the article and video, so I'm not giving her traffic... and definitely not buying homemade hair products from someone who is barely through puberty.

3. She still doesn't make $5k/month.

*backs away slowly* Whoa...relax Red. She's just 12 man. What were you doing at 12 that was so special? And if that other thread you posted in is accurate you don't even have a job right now. So I don't think you have any place to be criticizing her or her claims. Even if she's making $10...that's 10 more than you.

300% revenue growth? unless you are high tech start up, i don't think that's happening.

also, short-term this seems like quite the business idea, long-term it can't really go anywhere. hard to grow because how will you raise the capital? debt? no one would lend to a child. equity? right, you try selling stocks with a child at the helm of the company.

still, kudos to the girl, good experience to set her up with bigger things.

No, but she could set up a professional website, and bring in a parent as a managing partner who could raise capital.

She's 12 bro. Cut her a break. She's making more money than you made probably until you graduated college maybe even still after you graduated. I'm surprised how people can criticize her.

exactly. even after i graduated college i wasn't making 60k a year

That stuff makes her 5k a month? The packaging itself makes me wary of purchasing something like that.

See my revenue post above. We don't know her net income, but if it's like the average business, it's about 20%.... in which case she made about $750/month. Not bad for a 12 year old, but nowhere near $5k/month like this article claims.

Hopefully she is investing the $750/month into hiring some professional web design help.

1. Her 2007 revenues were $45,000... which means the amount before subtracted the cost to produce her crappy hair products.

2. She "expects" revenues to be $150k in 2008. Don't count your chickens before they hatch, shampoo queen.

1. LOL I like how you called her hair products "crappy" yet you've never tried them and obviously they are selling & customers demanding more so something must be right about them. I can almost imagine it doesn't cost too much to produce her products. She has no employees to pay, no rent, etc. She's just paying fo the materials she is using and probably not too much for them.

2. Don't most companies have "expectations" for the following year? Maybe even 5-10 years in advance? Based on how's it been selling for the first quarter this year I'm sure she (probably her parents involved as well) came up with a reasonable number. Add that to the fact this article is only helping her website gain traffic.

HAHA so true, products like these are really good for Black peoples hair. They are not crappy at all. From all the women I have dated and now looking at my wife and my sisters I can tell you as black people our women's hair will fall out, get damaged, break, when using chemicals and over the counter hair processing goods. They react better to other folks hair. That stuff just doesn't work for us, unless your a woman that wants to spend a LOT of money. These natural products, particularly "Shea Butter" something that West Africans have been using in their hair for probably thousands of years, works great, as a man i use it myself! makes my hair feel all extra smooth. In OUR communities these products have always been here but the demand is EXPLODING, kind of like everything being "Green" and everyone going "Organic" all of a sudden. This girl is doing great. I will buy some of this if i see in in the store. - Good job young girl.

I might help that her mom already had a business with money and knowledge to get her daughter going. A very small amount of people have that opportunity.

Seriously, you're just being a hater now.

My mother-in-law runs a black hair salon. You see magazines like HypeHair in black hair salons all the time. That's the audience her product is targeting. It may not be famous in your world but it is very well-known in the black hair care world (salons, supply stores, etc).

Probably because i know a TAD bit about Black Hair products because I use them, I have 3 sisters and have dated many women that use them. Also my wife is African and she uses them.

BUT its easier to take a look at the ingredients:
Raw Shea Butter with Avocado oil, Almond oil, Quinine oil, Hibiscus oil
among others.

Of course the largest ingredient is listed first. All over her page you see the term "Natural Ingredients" that why I said "These natural products" and then i particularly spoke about Shea butter because I know it works. Black folks hair is for the most part different from other peoples hair. The companies that do all that R&D dont do it for the small section of black people in the population, they do it for the people in the commercial. Our hair is different on a microscopic level. I have read about old Explorers in Africa speaking on how silky smooth and long the women hair was because of the "Butter" they put in it or the "Oil" they use on their hair and skin. Jeebus why do you have to be such as hater against a little girl.

Such a new low for ATOT. To be unwaveringly hating upon a successful 12 year old. Hilarious. I can just picture Red spending his afternoons in the park pushing little kids off the swings.

I say good job little girl!!

WAY better than I was doing when I was 12. Enjoy Life as a kid, but this is a nice way to go through college without having any debt in the end. Anything else is just butter :)
