Despite quite a few announcements I hadnt seen many third party Radeon cards up until now, but I notice the last few days I've seen quite a few HIS Radeon 7000 cards popping up loacally, and I recently saw an HIS Radeon 8500 also.
Anyways, needless to say the auctioneer didn't mention this card is based on the 8500 LE. The box does have ATI prominently displayed though, but I'll be skeptical until I see some reviews, especially cuz I've never heard of these cardmakers before. I'm buying an ATI branded 8500 though if I make that move...peace of mind is worth a few extra bucks
Supergrace have been around for a while. They have been making third-party Radeon and Radeon VE cards now for a while and were one of the card manufacturers included in ATI's statement about letting 3rd party card makers use Radeon 8500/LE chips along with other companies like Gigabyte (motherboards).
Dont know how good their cards are, a review of all the different Radeon cards would be useful rather than more reviews of different nvidia cards all the time that mirror other sites.
Hopefully the DFI and FIC Radeons will be good buy's. I really want an 8500, but I think i'll wait and see what these look like in the reveiwers hands before I decide.
You can still get in on the Radeon 8500 Retail deal at Dell......comes out to around $208 something with free shipping. They're on backorder now, so if you're not in a big hurry or if you're waiting for reviews by OEMs then might be something you wanna do. I ordered yesterday b/c I'm in no hurry....anything before New Year's is fine.
Well I live in Alaska, so all these good "free" shipping deals are never honored for my state. We have no UPS or FedEx ground service and I doubt they will ship USPS to me.
