Has somebody been successful in installing 3rd hard drive in Antec Fusion case? I am planning to run 3 500GB WD drives in RAID5.

Do you think it's even possible? I don't have the optical drive space available as I'll have a DVD Burner there.

Thanks.

You mean you will have two optical drives in there? If not, use the other bay. Looks like there's room above the PSU or you could use a Sumbeam universal bracket.

No just one, does it accommodate 2 optical drives ? This image shows enough space for 2 probably, but the specs says only 1 5.25" drive allowed.

I think the VFD occupies some part of that space. Above PSU is probably not recommended either, these WD RE2 drives already run hot. I couldn't find Sumbeam universal bracket on google, any link?

Looks like there's plenty of room in behind the VFD and it also looks like the 5" drive cage has slots for drive mounting in that space - I'm 99.9% sure you could mount another HDD in there. See the video review at Rodney's site or on Antec's site. You could use a Zalman fan/bracket or an Antec Spot fan to push some air over the PSU. Sunbeam bracket -- Another Looks like Xoxide is the lowest one with stock on it per Froogle.

Thanks again Zepper. I think those brackets will not go in due to lack of space and a little bit of custom mounting is needed, but you are right. It should be possible to have the 3rd drive in that cage behind VFD.

Okay, I have an update in case someone is looking for this info too. I got my Antec Fusion delivered. It can house the 3rd hard drive easily. I had a few brackets left to fit a 3.5" drive into 5.25" bay, similar to what Zepper suggested. And it just took a few minutes to fit them all. The 3rd drive went just above the DVD drive, behind the VFD. These are exactly like the ones I used http://store.orbitmicro.com/ccp4209-5-2...-adapter-bracket-5235-hdbr-s111226.htm

The only thing to note is, the temperature of the 3rd drive is about 40C whereas that of other 2 is about 32C when running at normal room temperature for 6 hours. The real issue I faced is the IDE cable. I had to use a 24" cable as normal 18" one didn't reach this compartment for 2 drives. I am using my old PATA drives for now, once my new SATA drives arrive, I think this will be a non-issue.
