I know it has been out for a little while but I just found it and am having a ton of fun. It is a little rough around the edges but if you like the Middle Earth universe you will easily overlook most of them.

Here is a video of Gondor vs Isengard

I am currently playing a Dwarven Campaign and just recaptured Moria. Cave trolls are beastly.

The faction list is:

Gondor
Rohan
Dwarves
Dale
Eriador
High Elves
Woodland Elves

Mordor
Isengard
Orcs of Misty Mountains
Rhun
Harad

(might have mispelled some of those).

Link to forums on TWCenter.net

Anyway, thought I'd share. Worth a download IMO.

Edit: More videos

I found some video's to showcase each side for you all.

Free Peoples of Middle Earth

Forces of Evil

Good quality trailer (don't forget to hit HD)

Battle of Ithilien (great video editing on this one)

Update:

Patch 1.2 has been released. Has some game fixes and adds heroes (Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas, etc). Also adds Ents!

Check it out here

Gee, thanks a lot. As if Empire: Total War wasn't sucking up enough of my free time as is. Now I have to reinstall Medieval 2. :p

Well, Medieval 2 works. Empire does not. I'm still kicking myself for buying that digital coaster.

Works just fine for me (I bought it at launch too). In fact, I actually had more bug problems with Medieval 2 than I've had with Empire. Go figure. :)

I couldn't get into Empire, didn't really care for the era to begin with. The battle map UI not working at launch and the still constant crashes have killed any interest I had in the game. Its a purchase I regret.

Same, but I loved MTW2, and as I just upgraded my graphics card I was looking for a reason to reinstall it. This will do nicely.

I had time to get this downloaded and installed last night. Very impressive piece of work. The total download is nearly 1.8 gigs, so it takes awhile. The map textures in campaign mode are a tiny bit coarser than the production game, but overall it's very well done, from the intro movie on.

Give it a year or so. Mods like this take time to do. Supposedly, according to CA, ETW is harder to mod (as in takes more time/skill) but the modders are able to do much more with it than previous TW games allowed. There are already some good mods out for ETW and many more being planned as well as in progress. Go to the twcenter.net site for more info.

But man, if it did work, if it did have AI, it would've been unbelievably awesome.

Since ETW is tied to Steam now, hopefully the modders will take that into account when building their mods. Getting any M2TW mod to work with M2TW Steam required an act of god.

Excellent. I'm in the middle of a campaign as Dale, and having a blast beating on the Rhun, with solid allies all around my norther and western frontiers. Hope the elves and hobbits don't turn on me. :)

Just wanted to say I tried this yesterday after reinstalling the game, the expansion ( longest install ever including downloads damn ).

Anyway, must say I am enjoying this. It is well done overall my only complaint is I do not remember large siege battles being quite this laggy but oh well.

Seems to be a little less on unit variety ( but been so long since I played the core game ) but worth a try for LOTR Fans.
