Thinpad 600x Trackpoint Problems

I have a Thinkpad 600x and the trackpoint has started flaking out. It wants to move all the way to the left of its own accord. This is especially bad when you click and drag something on the screen. The problem can be somewhat mitigated by moving the mouse slowly.

Any suggestions?
