Weird ass vertical lines covering half the screen.

Is this a screen issue or a graphics chip issue? Im leaning towards screen...

Keep in mind if you replace with an ebay screen some don't have the proper coding even though they are compatible. The problem will be instead of scaling edge to edge properly you may get letter box situations in non-native graphic modes.
 
looks like the ribbon cable that attached the panel to the tcon board is tearing off. its common, and its basically not serviceable. you need a whole new panel, which should be $50 or so.
 
good news, i have a t61 with busted motherboard, i can send you the whole assembly and you can take the screen.. lmk , minimum shipping cost usps..

motherboard boots but constantly locks up.. mine is t61 7662-cto, 14.1" right

Thanks for the offer dude but im in the UK 🙁

Screens on ebay are too expensive to be worth fixing it so im just gonna ebay the laptop for spares/repairs.
