I think my hopes are pretty slim to get this thing back up and running...but on the off chance...

My wife spilled some water on our T510. I shut it down immediately and wiped it down...and it didn't seem like water had penetrated it...so I powered it back on...got a crazy beep pattern and it shut off.

Now the power button remains on but blinks randomly...and once in a while I'm able to boot to the Lenovo screen, then it immediately shuts down.

I've pulled all peripherals, swapped ram and tested it with every combination of battery/ac.

Buuuuhhh.

How much water was spilled?

What's the beep code? It's a diagnostic code, you can find the translations online.

Based on the blinking and the immediate shutdown after the occasional successful post, I'd guess there's a short in the keyboard somewhere. If you've got a dock, use it to power on the laptop without the keyboard attached.

Otherwise, keyboards are <=$10 on ebay. Lemme know if you want help getting the part numbers and stuff.

Yank the battery in the meantime.

Edit: and if you didn't let stuff dry out before powering it back on... go dry them. Find a desiccant and stick it with the keyboard and laptop somewhere for awhile.

If you spilt water on it, you really need to be taking it apart and checking for water before attempting to power it back on. It may not be too late to do that, but no promises.

Excellent suggestion! It booted with the docking station...had to dig it out from the garage...have never used it. Ordering a replacement keyboard and feeling less bleak!

Edit: I'll mark it solved once the replacement keyboard is in and running.
