Thinkpad T42p making Morse Code sounds?

Here's a weird one. My T42p makes faint "Morse Code" type sounds. It does not seem to be coming from the speaker but from something just to the left of the touchpad. At the lowest CPU speed (600mhz), you have to put your ear to the machine in order to hear it but at maximum speed (2ghz) it's audible from 2-3 feet away.

Has anybody experienced this?

Yeah, my T30 made those odd "beeping" squeak noises too... right before the hard drive failed in it. 🙁 My bunch is that the drive bearings were going bad, since the squeaking noises turned into grinding noises and random OS crashes a few weeks later.

My new T42p is much quieter, thankfully!

I don't think this is the hard drive. If I put the power brick up to my ear, I hear the same thing.
