Thinkpad R40 (2681-ceu) video card problem

This is my second machine... I got my first R40 at the begining of May, however, after 2 days uses, the LCD just didn't light, it worked fine if I connect a external monitor. So I called IBM and get a replacement.... unfortunately, the replacement is still no good, if I move the machine little bit, (e.g. form the left corner of the desk to the right corner of desk), LCD screen size will be reduced to 640X480 by 16 colors (4 bits), also a message bow pops up: Windows has detected a failure device, please save your work and reboot. sometimes, if I reboot it, it works fine, sometimes, after a few minutes, the same thing happens, sometimes windows xp just hang on, and sometimes after few minutes black screen, windows reboots itself. I have tried install latest vide driver from IBM, and also tried install directx 9.0a then reinstall latest vidoe driver (ATI mobilty redeon) from IBM, same thing happens.... I called IBM again, they said I cannot get a replacement since it already past 10 days, and they want me to try recovery CD first, if it doesn't work, they will replace the motherboard. I should call IBM eariler, since this problem happened on the first I got it, I thought it might be driver problem....now it seems not. The machine was built in Korean on April 28, the first machine also built on the same location same date.

BTW, I have captured the screen shots here:

I thought I should give here a try b4 I try the recovery cd/ask IBM to replace MB...

Any suggestions?
