I have a Thinkpad T20, and I'm having internet connection problems. I'm using dial-up, and before the problem I was having was that the modem wouldn't get a dial tone or dial the number. If I left it idle for a while (i.e. overnight) it would work fine for a bit, but then eventually it would disconnect, and I wouldn't be able to dial again for a while.
That hasn't really happened much lately, but now what happens quite a bit is that sometimes the connection just drops right after connecting. So I get a dial tone, and the modem dials and connects fine, but then right away it says connection failed. Also when I do get connected, I can't get to certain sites. Other sites (like AT) connect up fine, and the pages load up pretty quickly, but if I try to connect to Yahoo for example, it will take a while and then eventually it will say "could not find"
I'm not sure if this a modem hardware problem, or if it has something to do with my settings. I'm running Windows XP. Please help.
