Hi there.. Got a little problem that I hope thinkpad owners can help me with.

I have a 2722GCU R40. When I boot, I sometimes get an error that reads "PXE-E05: The LAN adapter's configuration is corrupted
or has not been initialized. The Boot Agent cannot continue". Followed by an error "Expansion Rom cannot be initialized". The next option is to reboot.

This appears to be something to do with the the intel boot agent for the Intel Pro 100 VE. This started to happen after I flashed the bios to the newest release (1.17 (1PET49WW)). However, it is intermittent, so difficult to know for sure what's going on.

Just recently, I just went into the bios and disabled 'Internal Network Option Rom' in the network settings (enabled by default), and since then I haven't got the crash at boot anymore. However, I don't know if the need will arise to make use of the boot agent, and it just bothers me that something is wrong with the machine, since i acquired it recently.

Has anyone else had this problem before? Anyway I can fix this myself? I was looking into flashing the card, but found out that the rom can be built into the bios, or a separate flash rom device. I have a years warranty, and have called the guys at IBM and spoke to 2 ppl about this. They tell me to check PC doctor, but of course nothing shows up because once it has booted, everything is fine. One tech was adamant that my hard drive was the problem, but this is not the case. The option rom is loaded way before the HD, no matter the boot order.
