Thinkpad frisbee...erm woes.

About a month ago I purchased an IBM Thinkpad T-21 off of E-Bay for the purpose of it being used mainly just to browse the internet and type papers. My sister has no need for anything beyond that as she has a desktop I've built for her.

I'm a little ticked off the lady didn't disclose the screen was wonky. You open the Thinkpad by the two release switches near the corners and open it and when you press the power button it powers up fine and POST fine as well. The problem is I have to wiggle the top to make it show. Or close it almost all the way and re open it before the LCD actually works.

I've contacted her about this and she has said it was a faulty problem with most T-21's. I've searched and cannot find such.

Have any of you had the T-21 and had such problems?

How can I fix this screen problem?

I've worked with the IBM's for years.... T21's or T22's had some HD issues but not screen. SOunds like a loose cable or a bad cable.

definitely sounds like the a cable issue. if you have some free time, go to IBM's Clearlake website (just google clearlake) and download the Hardware Manual for your MT (four digit number), which you'll find on the bottom sticker. Should have directions for getting to that cable.
