thinkpad ac adapter too weak?

i have the travel version, which only outputs 60 watts. the standard version outputs 72 watts.
i have my x31 with its base, which has a dvd burner in it, but the dvd's don't burn correctly. could it be that the ac adapter isn't supplying enough power, even if the battery is full?
(it's also hooked up to a monitor, and usb devices)

I don't think so. The job of the adapter is to keep the battery charged. If there is a problem with the adapter, it would manifest itself as the battery charging really slowly. But, when the battery is charged, the adapter has no impact on how the laptop operates.
