Thinkpad A22m, need new HD

The HD in one of our laptops at work has died. Its an IBM Thinkpad A22m that came with a 30gig HD. The machine is two 1/2 years out of warranty so no free fix. The question is whether it would be worth spending the extra money to get a part straight from IBM or should we just get any OEM drive I can find cheap? 40gig OEM drives are around $60 or I could get the IBM one for $140. Then there's the fact that I could have the OEM drive today or tomorrow whereas the IBM one could take two weeks. Any advice?

I would definitely go with the OEM drive. Just make sure that it is compatible size-wise, as most drives are, and you will be fine. There are almost never issues with OEM drives being compatible. Just load up those restore CDs on the new HDD and all will be well once again 🙂
Hope this helps

OEM for sure. If memory serves, the A22 uses 12.5mm drive height. So either the 9.5mm or 12.5mm will work fine. Most 2.5" drives on the market today are 9.5mm.
