ThinkPad 410 recovery disks ISO image. Where to get them.

I just bought a Thinkpad T410 without the OS or hard drive. I have a Windows 7 copy (benefits of living next door to Microsoft). I want to have it setup just like a factory restored Thinkpad. Otherwise I will simply install the OS without all the ThinkVantage software and all the Thinkpad software and drivers.

I know they have ISO images of the recovery disks that can be downloaded. I just don't know where to look.

The top of their home page has a phone number and a chat link. Personally, I would ask them how to get recovery DVDs for your model.

Install your own version.

Then use this to get all their software: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht080136

Personally, I don't use Access Connections to manage networks, it's a pos.

Don't be surprised if Lenovo charges for factory install images.

Thanks for your feedback. I live next to Microsoft and already have several copies of Windows 7. Will your link install all the Thinkpad drivers and software?

Yes. Lenovo System Update does that. It's not perfect, but it will deliver the latest drivers and software available almost everytime. Sometimes it's a level down compared to their site, but it gets updated eventually.

The only driver you may need to go get and manually install is a NIC driver, but chances are Windows 7 will have one for the NICs anyways. T410's used Intel LAN, and had some choice in WLAN adapters.

I use System Update on my T430, used it on my T410 as well. It works well, but still look through what it wants to put on, it's not perfect.

The Thinkpad T410 I bought comes with no HDD and limited memory. I have a spare 320GB drive and 4GB of ram. This will be my mule Thinkpad. I like working on projects.

Most people work Hard to clean the "Junk" that the Vendors put on.

You have it easy since you can do a real clean Install, so why you are looking for the "Cursed Junk"?--:hmm:.

I want to do a clean install but I want to have access to my ThinkVantage button so I can make recovery disks with my Window 7 64 bit OS while still having all the Thinkpad essential software. Not the bloatware stuff.

Then use this to get all their software: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht080136

If I use the above link for drivers, can I install all the software that isn't bloatware with the drivers?

On my old T43p there used to be an IBM login feature. That is the kind of software I wanted for my thinkpad. Where you login through the biometric reader and don't need a Windows password.
