I'm going Athlon next week and will need to reinstall an OS, I'd like to try Win2k again but could never get my Burner to work last time I tried, thus I'm running 98 again. I was having problems with the device manager recognizing the burner as a regular cdrom and also that I was missing the WNASPI32.DLL file to work with NERO. I followed Nero's instructions for the dll and still got nothing. It was at that point I said screw it and went back to win98.

I want to go to 2K for the stability but is there an easier way to install my burner and get it working right

I need to get NERO and Fireburner working smoothly

thanks for all replies in advance

Did you install service packs for Win2k last time you tried the install ?
What version of NERO ?

I think that the latest version of Nero should work just fine, time to upgrade :)

First make sure the BIOS recognize the CD drives by name. They should list on the first boot screen. If not then you may have to do a manual detection in the BIOS.
You need the proper chipset drivers to enable all EIDE and ATAPI functions in Win2k. For an Athlon setup, that would be the latest 4 in 1's. Intel rigs need .inf v.260 and the 6.10 ATA drivers (install the .inf first). I've used your version Nero in Win2K with no problems but v.5524 is a bit better.
Some Win2K users have needed to install the Adaptec ASPI layer fix so you might try that if you continue to have problems. Get the patch from Adaptec?s site or use EZ CD Creator 5.0 or later, which automatically updates ASPI on install.
