Thinking of starting a webforum. Facebook reg only?

I'm thinking about starting a forum for a specialized group. I'm thinking I'm going to make it facebook registration only. Good idea? Or too restrictive? Most of the people browsing the site would be professional researchers in university and private sector.

Personally I think it is too restrictive but I guess it depends on your user base if they all are willing to use that login.

I don't use, nor will I ever use facebook. I also resent the growth of facebook as some kind of ID system, so I'd be disinclined to use your forums out of principle.

I refuse to log in to anything with fb.

Why are you considering that as an option?

Many people don't have Facebook accounts or wish to keep theirs private.

Bad idea. I'd recommend to keep email registration open as well
