Like the millions of other men on this planet the MPB (male pattern baldness) gods have chosen me as well. I'm almost to the point of saying "fvck it" and just shave it all off. Only thing is I've never shaven all my hair off before in my life so I'm not sure how I look bald. And also concern on how long it will take to tan out the top of my head so it doesn't look like an egg shell. Any one here embraced the bald look and care to share their experiences?

I'm not bald, but it used to be a tradition back when I was in ROTC to shave our heads before a drill meet. Basically, it works like any skin that rarely gets exposed to sun and then suddenly gets exposed to a lot of it. It is very sensitive to sun and burns very quickly. You will peel too which is gross coming off your head if you do burn. I recommend starting with some decently strong sun block and try to limit exposure to the sun for the first week or until you begin to tan. This will need to be a gradual process at first if you want to do it right.

Doesn't getting a buzz-cut help, too? The short hair covers up the pink-ish skin sort of, but lets enough light through, too?

I've been shaving my head for comfort for about 15 years (I'm 32 now). At one point I tried to grow it back in, and realized just how bald I'd gone :) I keep it pretty short now, and can't tan, so my head is as white as the rest of me. You'll be fine.

You should grow it out as long as you can til you can't stand it for one last hurrah first.

what makes you think your head will tan

True, most likely you'll either:

burn
develop freckles
stay the same
combination of a & b

<--bald on & off for 10 years. :(

My hair is so thick and grows so fast I have to get hair cuts every two weeks, *Nelson HAHA*

I dig the bald look, been considering it myself, but I'm too chicken to cut my Sampson like hair.
Lex Luther in smallville looks pretty dashing.
