Thinking of Reformatting

Well all was running smooth but all of a sudden I'm having such bad frame rates with my comp.

2.53GHz P4 @ 3.0GHz
1GB Corsair PC3200 RAM (those good chips I forgot what they're called lol)
Radeon 9800Pro
2x 80GB WD's on RAID 0

Unreal Tournament on full settings runs at 30fps or lower!
Flight Sim is horrible looking

Everything is just choppy when it comes to video.

I have no spyware (I look for this stuff), no viruses, and everything has proper cooling

I have no idea what could be wrong.

I'm thinking of just reformatting.

Did this just happen all of a sudden?

Is your P4 throttling?

Also, try checking the Task Manager>Processes. Make sure everything that's running is legit and not malicious software.

nothing like a fresh install

I did one today - everything is updated, patched, defragged, etc and it's all saved to a ghost image file in case I mess it up later 🙂

I assume you've checked task manager for those hidden progams & system - hogging apps that you forgot about, that's always where I check when this happens.

ehh it never hurts to "refresh" ur pc, think of a format as a spa for ur comp, all ur problems will float away and ur comp will be snappier

yeah i have the same question...this start happening recently? reinstalling drivers might work, but reformatting always works. doing the drivers first might save you time in the end if it works, just a thought.

I've tried defragging and everything. I make sure that my installs are clean. I store all of my important files on another hard drive also. I run Adaware and Spybot also.
