I need to buy a router for my aDSL connection and I'm considering going wireless.
I've never used wireless internet before so I have some doubts...I'd really appreciate if someone with experience in the subject answered some of my questions
The wireless router will be approximately 12 feet away from my PC. I don't have thick walls or anything like that.
I currently have 1mbps aDSL, which in turn yields about 110KB/s in terms of download speeds (i.e., pretty normal). Can I expect that same ratio when using wireless? Or will my download speeds drop?
I play a lot of WoW through this connection. Of course, DSL doesnt' have the best pings to begin with (I get 100ish ms in my server). Will this stay the same? Or will the Wireless increase my ping as well?
Finally, is there a particular brand I should buy / stay away from? So far the most popular seem to be Lynksys, SMC and 3M. I'm leaning towards the Lynksys WRT54G but I've read mixed reviews, specially regarding a newer version (v.5) which supposedly is inferior to earlier models.
