Thinking of going to ITT TECH

I was wondering if going to ITT tech was a good choice. I know its an accredited college but do companies respect ITT like the commercials say. Ive read all kinds of good and bad stories. Just looking for someone who has either gone, is attending or is in the industry and there views on ITT graduates.
Thanks :)

Do some Googling. Then run away.

For software development, ITT is less respected than a 2-year program from a community college.

DeVry has a bit better reputation.

He's right. ITT isn't respected around here either. Ranken is respected in this area though....won't help you if you aren't in the STL area though.

Companies will hire you for your ability. Don't believe the losers who say that you won't find a job because you didn't go to a "popular" college like them.

So it depends on if you're good or not.

Considering some past legal troubles they've been in(their offices were raided last year, etc), I wouldn't go there purely because of the risk they may just vanish one day.

Maybe after a couple years experience, but straight out of college it matters where you went. You have to get the interview before you can dazzle them with your knowledge and ITT really isn't taken seriously at at alot of places.

I believe they were up for accredition but got raided due to the school's lack of taking student's attendance and reporting them properly to federal financial aid offices. They lost their chances of getting accredited that year.

I guess you're right, it's just been so long for me that I can barely remember those times.

That's a load of crock. How will you demonstrate your "abilities" if you never get the opportunity? ITT Tech and DeVry are both a ripoff if you look at the ROI. If I had the choice, I would rather go to a state school than either of those schools.

Many companies (notice I didn't say ALL) won't even hire those that went to DeVry or ITT Tech. At my company, they've hired only the valedictorians from those schools and that all happened when the economy was great. Now, they'll only hire from the local University because they can afford to be a more choosey.

I've sifted through piles of resumes for hiring developers at this job and the last one and I can tell you that since we can't interview everyone your education does matter until you have at least a couple of years of full-time work experience.

In deciding who gets an interview, for people without experience the person with a 4-year degree gets picked before the 2-year, and ITT tech goes to the bottom of the pile.

Also, grades and internships/coops do matter as well, as tie-breakers. So if we are picking 3 people to interview and have 4 BS CS/CSE people, we'll probably skip the one with lower grades and no co-op/internships.

It's harder probably to get your foot in the door, but once you're in, you're in. From that point on, your ability limits how far you go in life.

I have know a lot of people who got work after a certificate from ITT. You can get a job with one, but if I were you I would look for a better school. There is a bias against it in the workplace.

If you can go to someplace better, do it, otherwise this is the place for you and just do your best :)

They will charge you up the wazoo in tutition costs that are directly tied to the max amount of loans/grants that they feel you can get.

It has nothing to do with the actual costs.

What they advertise and try to sell you is entirely different than what is delivered.

Best to talk to local companies in your area to find out their opinions of graduates and length of time that a graduate stays with them.

Which part of the country are you planning on going to school? If you're interested in school rankings, you can pick up a copy of USNews and look through all the rankings that way or you can look at the partial list on-line. If I were you, I wouldn't consider ITT Tech or DeVry unless you simply cannot get into any program out there.

That is a DANGEROUS thing to do here. Oh well, since I have your trust, it would be most beneficial to seek an antarctic exploration program at an accredited university. You will receive a bachelor's, and you can probably land internships at places like the South Pole, where you will have the glorious opportunity to work with leopard seals, unique gulls, and of course...anthropomorphic flightless birds that are waiting for the proper moment in history to unleash their fury upon the world.

Yo...
You were looking at the ITT in Getzville? I was looking there too.
That's where I got accepted. I'll probably end up going there because of my financial situation.
