I don't swim in pools, only the ocean and rivers :^P

But fish pee in there!!!

I just don't like pools. They're boring, as the water just sits there, and the chlorine burns my eyes. I don't worry about germs and stuff, that's what my immune system is for. I have been in some nasty rivers though. I paddled the Tohican(sp?) once, and ripped my knuckles open on a rock. By the time I got to the end of the run, my knuckles were swollen and pussing :^O I don't know what the hell was in there, but it wasn't good :^D

The Cheat river made my skin feel prickly after getting splashed. I assumed it was from higher than average acidity levels. There's big problems out that way with acid drainage from the mines. Some of the rivers have orange rocks, they look like something from Mars :^O I hear that the orange rocks are a sign of recovery though. They get the deposits on them as the river cleans itself.

I swim in lakes and pools. Chemicals keep pools safe, lakes ... well ... I've never gotten sick from swimming in them before, and I've done it many many times, so I am not really worried about it.

At some point you pretty much have to have faith that your body's immune system is up to the task.

Urine is sterile

I keep hearing people say this yet they put backflow prevention devices in home systems in case some animal pees into your in-ground sprinklers which would get into your water supply potentially leading to Hep-C.

So, drink urine with confidence right... ?

Ummm, I thought the backflow devices were to prevent dirt, rainwater, and any other potential contaminants from getting into the water supply. I've never heard anyone say they are there solely to prevent an animal from peeing in your sprinkler.

no, not solely. But pets are the ones who walk in front of your house / sprinklers so it can happen.

Not sure if this is a coincidence or not...here in SLC we have had a huge influx of latinos (most illegal) in the past few yrs. We have also had a huge increase in pools being closed do to waterborne illnesses. Who knows....

I never shower before entering. Don't know anyone else who does either. After, sure...

I've also never gotten sick from being in a pool (TMK).

fuck off, I hate when people say this

just cause it is sterile doesn't mean I want it in my pool

I've done it. I never think twice about swimming in pools (motels, friends, etc) and never got sick from them.

UFC fighter Lyoto Machida drinks his own piss every morning before he starts to train. I think in a lot of countries pee is no big deal.

lol people and their phobia of everything make me laugh maniacally. Get out of the water and give me more room to screw around. And, don't bother taking a visit to a beach, like a lake or an ocean. You don't wanna know the things animals do in there. :shudders: Besides pissing and shitting, they even have SEX in that there water!!! OMG, I don't wanna swim in sex water.... oh wait, hmmm. sorry about that

but seriously, chlorine helps, and there are germs everywhere anyhow. let your body do what it was supposed to do, fight the baddies that crawl everywhere, because seriously, you cannot avoid them unless you want to live in a bubble. I like to keep my immune system guessing. Helps me ensure myself that if I stay alive, whenever I end up having a kid, I am passing to them a potentially capable immune system. :)

private pool FTW

even a semi-nasty pool is still cleaner than the ocean and i swim in that. chlorine kills all sorts of nasty stuff.
