Few years ago I tried to learn a programming language or two, picked up a few books, etc. At one point I took a C++ course, but the instructor was so awful (barely knew the language himself) that I got next to nothing out of it.
Fast-forward to now, I'm a little older and have matured quite a bit in the last few years. The "Sam's Teach Yourself C in 21 Days" stands mightily behind me in the bookshelf, all of its impressive bredth collecting dust. I'm thinking of having another go at it, and seeing as this is summer, it's better to try now than later. Now, I've got way too much going on in the next few weeks to even think about getting started, but in the meantime...
Is this a pretty solid book, y'think? I've heard the lessons take about 2.5 hours each, seem accurate to you? I'm not looking to become uber-133t or anything, just wondering if I can get some skills, learn something, y'know? Any tips?
PS-The box for Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 is next to the book on the shelf, if you're curious as to my compiler. 😉
