Thinking of getting CPA

[IHAVEAQUESTION]

Well, I just registered an account with the california board of accountancy last night and have read the educational requirement to sit for the exam. But some of the financial courses I took I am not sure if those can be applied to the 24 accounting-related semester units. I am fine sending the transcripts along with $100 fee to find out if I am eligible. But what kind of response can I expect from the california board of accountancy? Will they tell me how many more units I need and what classes I need to take or is it going to be a yes or no response? I need to know. Thanks.

Btw, I am looking for a forum to post my question about CPA..if anyone knows any, let me know.

My roommate is almost a CPA. He has just one of the tests left. The only problem I see with being a CPA is that the pay is a lot lower than being a lawyer, and the hours can be almost as bad.

Wait, is your CPA and my CPA the same? I'm talking about certified public accountant..

I have CPA exams scheduled for May, July, August, and October.

So...when you send in your transcripts and remittance form...do they tell you how many accounting-related credits you have? It's this sort of information that I am looking for.

well the career paths are a little bit different. Comparing jobs simply by hours worked vs wage probably isn't the best way of going about it. I'm currently an accounting major, got another year left and then I need another semester or so to complete my 150 hours. Plan on taking the CPA exam, but I don't plan on being a simple accountant for the rest of my life. There are many paths one can take, and having an accounting background is a valuable trait to have.

Law school is a lot more difficult than getting an accounting undergrad degree and passing the CPA exam.

your state board will only give you the yes or no

if it is a yes, they'll give you a NTS (notice to sit) and take exams at the prometric center
