I currently have a super orb, and want to upgrade. I am buying it without the fan, and will buy that seperately.

"The" Question : What kind of fan can i get that is equal or quieter than my superorb and will not suck on cooling (no pun intended)

thanks for any help!:D

I have Pabst fans in use, both 80mm:

Pabst 8412 NGL 26cfm@19dBA
Pabst 8412 NGML 19cfm@12dBA

These are the quietest fans I know, but also not the strongest. If you don't get your hands on one of them, try the Panaflo L1A, it gets pretty good comments in the forums.

Try a private message to Gizzo, he has his own website with most of the common fans!

mackstann-

I don't have a superorb but I bought a MC462 bare and coupled it with a Panaflo H1A. It is super quiet, sitting right next to me on the floor, and is currently running at 37°C at Full Load running RC5. At idle, I sit 2-3°C over ambient. So far I'm extremely satisfied with it! :D

Save your $ and get a Thermalright SK-6, check out amdmb.com, they got a review of it. The reviewer is the moderator for their cases and cooling forum, and he knows what he's doing. He puts it through a hard test, and it outperforms the 462 by a couple degrees, and it's half the price.

Whoops...thought you guys were talking about Heatsinks, sorry about that. It's still good info though if you wanna check it out

Your right most heatsinks do use 60mm fans, except the switech Mc462, it does use an 80mm. But I agree to go with the SK6

I thought the issue was balancing cooling performance and noise? The 80mm H1A is rated at 39.6 CFM and only 32.0 dB. The MC462 allowed me to increase the fan size, decrease the rpm's without sacrificing airflow and still "hear myself think".;)

The adapters have been prove ineffective at blowing air onto the heatsink, they wrok better sucking.
