Basically play WoW. I don't game at my desk however, preferring instead to game/web browse/watch from my couch. My 40" 1080p screen I've had for three years however is just too small though. I really don't have a lot of money, so paying 50% more for HDR and smart features and OLED and what not is basically a dream. But with that said Sam's has a sale this Saturday for a 65" Vizio for $598 and I was thinking of getting it.

I have some questions though. I can't seem to find much in the way of data for this tv and know nothing of response time or anything in regards to whether it would fill my needs as a budget PC gamer. I don't see anything on whether it is 60hz or 120hz either. I probably can't push more than 60fps with a 1060 though in 4k so I doubt 120hz would be of much help. Is it a good deal? Or should I wait for BF? I'm wary of having better options, but stock and weather being up in the air makes it seem a gamble as for whether I should hold out.

TBH for wow and other things like that the response time isn't bad. Its for twitch shooter sand stuff that you'll notice it.

But yeah just find a good deal on a screen you like. If you can easily get it locally thats a pro since you can easily return it if you don't like it.

Black friday is definitely worth waiting for at this time of year, as TVs are usually the #1 hot seller on BF while other computer parts rarely have better deals than throughout the year.

most TV's have way to much input lag due to processing to be much use for PC gaming IMO.

depends on games: if what you call "PC gaming" means "FPS twitch only!" then yeah, I agree. Otherwise, it isn't such a huge deal.

OP, at that price it is almost certainly 60hz. But beyond price, 4k120 is still very niche, iirc. For 65" that's a pretty good deal and while I don't know the model number, Vizio's most recent panels have actually been really good. ...but I've never seem them recommended in the recent TV-for-gaming articles and reviews.

You could wait for BF, but recall that BF has, in recent years, been a huge letdown when it comes to comparative deals throughout the year. If anything, that same TV will be on sale for the same price, if not a little more expensive. BF has been made obsolete when it comes to real deals because of constant seasonal online deals and the typical holiday weekends (Memorial, Labor day, etc) that have always been big sales weeks.

Hey, check out Slick Deals website. The front page there will have good TV deals quite frequently. I would go to rtings.com, they have great reviews and they evaluate game-mode input lag on all their reviews

I'm already on fatwallet and slick deals but finding a good deal for my uses is always difficult. Some top end displays do it all, while some cheap displays are good at movies but horrible for gaming or vice versa. I can only afford cheap however, so if it is one or the other I have to be careful at picking a model good at the latter. But I find a great price on a good size like this tv and can't find a review or ms rating any where which leaves me scratching my head.

Honestly I'm not even sure if I should go with another 1080p tv or this 4k one. I only have a 1060 which isn't really enough for 4k gaming in general, but might be enough for WoW in 4k. If running other games in 1080p upscaled to 4k looked no worse than running them in 1080p on the 1080p tv I have now than running WoW natively in 4k would be pure benefit with no loss. At the same time I'm not sure if 120hz would hurt if my gpu can only handle gaming at 60fps. See the conundrum?

I don't know if it's possible, but I I would basically like 60" or more if I can get it for about $600 for PC display and PC gaming. Perhaps with perhaps the possibility of going up to $700 if some mind blowing deal on BF appears just outside my primary budget for that price.

If one of last year's LG OLEDs gets to that price it will blow your mind. Stick with 1080p with a 1060.

OP my advice is look up a review of the TV see its input lag or go to a site that catalogs tvs by input lag or go to avsforum and see how the TV is for gaming and lag.

W 1070 or any low input lag projector works as well if you really want to go big. From what I've seen the 4k offerings have had lower input lag on average. The Vizio p series is great with input lag if I'm not mistaken and is below 20 ms which is very good for tvs. But you'll want to double check that.

Good luck op I love big screen gaming and will never go back.

If you can find a review or input lag specs of the e65-e1 linked in the OP, let me know.

If you're buying something marketed as a TV it will have mediocre input lag at best. Even the best TVs with gaming mode are kinda crap if you care about that.

I have a Vizio D series and the input lag is excellent. I too use rtings to check out these times.I think below 30ms is great for a TV, and mine rates around 19ms with Game Mode on.

If the E series is consistent, looks like 30.4ms for that model. Not too bad...since you're buying it locally, I'd give it a shot and return it if it's no good.

I ended up pulling the trigger. A 65" 4k for $598 is very hard to beat, especially when coming from a name brand.

Technically it is a display and not a tv as it lacks a tv turner. I don't know if not being a tv means it has a slightly better response time or not, though battlefront set to 60hz and v sync did not have any especially noticeable motion blur. It is a significantly better display for web browsing and computer use than my dinky 1080p 40" westinghouse was but something about moving the pointer around seems off. Like, I need to really slow it down as I get it near to a small button or thing to click on. Perhaps it was made smaller with the shift from 1080p to 4k and I need to adjust my ui or icon size.
