Thinking of chipping my car..

Chipping my car brings it from 235hp to 275, ostensibly with a higher risk of destroying the blower. I was wonderin' if any of you AT'ers had any experience or advice in that dept?

BTW, where the hell is Roger?

Man, make sure it's not some cheap as chip you buy from ebay or something. It's just gonna mess up your engine like crazy and no way a freaking chip is gonna give you that much extra HP without tuning it properly and mods.

i think vwvortex would have better answers for you

Chip it, my friend who has a S4 chipped it. It wont hurt your car, you're the one who will end up hurting it if you drive it hard

Im going to chip my Audi, as soon as i get around to it. the chip doesnt do a whole lot, it raises the fuel cut-off and slightly advances timing iirc. Worth the $60 I guess.

should go from 162 ->215ish and 1.4 -> 1.8bar
Good enough i suppose. not lightning, but fast.

I saw a guy running 2.6bar on the same engine once. 280hp and 330ftlbs (iirc) on a 2.2L I5 😀

There are a number of reliable firms that provide chips that boost 35-42hp for audi, one that even sources the original audi code. It's been dyno'd and proven effective.

My question was more towards the reliablity aspect and whether I was seriously risking my blower by doing a mod...

The MTM and APR chips are like $500, what kind of chip costs $60? 😕

for the old (86-89) 5000/200's some guys figured out the code. each person that sells it has it a little different, but mostly the same.

I actually have the .bin file, i just need a chipwriter for a 2764 series PROM.
hmm.. suppose someone on AT has access to one huh.. a $3 PROM is better than a $60 pre-programmed PROM 😉

I have a burner that I use to make custom chips for my Firebird. I kinda doubt it would work though.
