Thinking of buying ZALMAN VF700-CU cooler for 7800gtx to overclock it, thoughts on it lowering case/cpu temps also?

This VGA cooler here

Currently w/ BFG 7800GTX I am at about 52c idle 70c load at 473/1350

Would like to get to 500/1400, but would also like to lower the effect of this video card's heat on my CPU/case temps

Would a fan that cools the video card better help lower CPU temps also potentially or would it just blow the heat off the card but still more or less little effect on the other component temps. (Since it isnt venting air out the back...)

Thanks :)

made a nice difference for me.

my evga's load dropped from 80ish to 70, thats with rthdribl for 30mins. it also dropped my chipset temp which took a beating when i replaced my 6800gt with the 7800.

now the chipset is back to normal, idle ~42 and load ~48.

I like it but the artic cooler takes the heat outa the case instead the zalman blows the head all over inside. if you were to get the artic cooler i am guessing your gpu temps and cpu temps would go down.

Yeah I think perhaps it would be best if I get one that takes heat out.

I need to lower my CPU temps on average by about 5 degrees, which might happen if the GTX isnt sending heat all over the place.

Interesting side note: By using my AC, (piped it up to intake of case) I dropped CPU temps from 38idle to 32.

This allowed me to finally pass prime for a good while before I stopped it.

It seems the only thing that was causing problems was heat, a few degrees at that.

The ironic thing is only prime heats up my CPU to the temp that made it fail prime, other progs really dont.

So it was self defeating. Other progs were probably stable all along as they only took my PC to the temps that prime was stable at only after the AC experiment

My eVGA loads @ 80C @ stock 490/1300, and it raises up to 76/77C in BF2.
The entire black heatsinks becomes too hot to touch while @ load.
And I already have to case door open at all times.

And it's not a problem to run the VF700-CU coller on 5v on the 7800 GTX either, or do I have to use 12V all the time?
