Thinking of buying an AMD system for 2k gaming

Good afternoon,

I am looking to buy a PC for casual 2K gaming on a 23-inch monitor. I was thinking of the CyberpowerPC Desktop PC Gamer Ultra 2236, which, for US$849.99, gives you:

 AMD FX-Series FX-8320 (3.50 GHz)

 16 GB DDR3 2 TB HDD

 AMD Radeon RX 480 8 GB GDDR5

I realize this PC is not absolutely top-of-the-line. However, value is somewhat important to me and I’m not going to do 4K gaming. I would like to buy an AMD chip and was thinking of waiting for the Zen in 2017. But I imagine that it might be some time before that chip is released, and it might be quite expensive.

My reservations about the CyberpowerPC are:

-perhaps the CPU is not stellar

-it seems the power bills would be unnecessarily high (although I would not be doing overclocking or hardcore, 24/7 gaming). I've heard that the 8320e has better power consumption

-it seems the fans could be loud

Do you think this is a reasonable machine for my purposes? Would it make sense to wait for a Zen? Or is this a comparatively priced Intel system or other AMD system that would make more sense?

Thank you for your advice.

BTW: here are my answers to the regular questions about new PCs:

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

Word processing, browsing the web, and playing PC games.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

US$1000-1500

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

Canada.

4. IF you're buying parts OUTSIDE the US, please post a link to the vendor you'll be buying from.

http://www.ncix.com/ or newegg.ca

5. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.

AMD

6. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

No.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

No overclocking.

8. What resolution, not monitor size, will you be using?

2K gaming.

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?

I would rather buy a fully made PC than build one. I would like to buy something within the next half year.

10. Do you need to purchase any software to go with the system, such as Windows or Blu Ray playback software?

I imagine Windows 10 would come with most PCs I bought.

You can build a better Intel based system for the same price as that AMD system cost, maybe even a bit cheaper. Building a computer isn't that hard. But if you really do have your heart set on AMD, I would wait for Zen.

23" is a little small for 1440p, go with a 27". You will thank me later.

Thanks guys. That newegg build does look good!

Question: Would gaming on a 27" be more demanding than gaming on a 23"? Or I guess it would be the same if they're both at 1440p?
