Thinking of buying a Toyota Matrix XR

Thinking of getting a 05 Matrix but want some opinions from owners. I know the Vibe is the same car and cheaper, but I don't like the Vibe's styling. Any insights on reliability, gas milage, handling, etc. would be appreciated...

Other cars I'm considering: Scion XA and TC, and Toyota Prius.

Thanks!

I'd like a Matrix, so I can have AWD and good gas mileage at a reasonable price... I too was looking into a Scion TC but with Michigan winters it'd be pretty hazardous. Plus the Matrix gets better gas mileage.

I drove a rental Vibe. Fun car! But four-bangers don't cut it for me anymore. I'd definitely consider a Matrix/Vibe if I were young.

i guess we don't get that model or any of its derivatives here...we get an AWD Kluger (but that's more a midsized SUV)...

My mom has a AWD Vibe, which I've drivin a lot.

It's good for her. You know, going to the store and stuff. From A to B. It handles Michigan Winters real well too. But it's underpowered at 123 hp. But she doesn't care. She loves it.

Want power? Go for the Vibe GT. Or in your case, whatever the Matrix equivelent is.

The Matrix XRS is the Vibe GT equivalent, and while it looks great to me the wife wants an automatic transmission, which isn't available on the XRS.
