Thinking of buying a Mini Audio System Recommendations?

I never had a mini stereo system before and really never look at one. I am currently using my computer as the entertainment center most of the time. Recently I find the noise of my computer annoying at night when I want to listen to music so I thought I look into a decent mini audio system.

Any advice? Recommendations? I heard people say Aiwa sucks now so I think i should avoid them. I am looking to spend less than $400.

I have a JVC FS1000 Executive mini system and to me its been worth every penny($300). I use it as my clock radio and bedroom stereo. I also have the aux hooked up to my computer so I can play MP3s. I would recommend one like mine to anyone. Only gripe I have is the buttons on the remote are all the same size and shape. Its a little hard to use in the dark. If you really want it to rock get a small sub. :)

Nakamichi or Denon
Those cheap aiwa and JVC systems break too easily.

I dont know what model JVC flood is talking about but the one I have is very solid. Nothing cheap feeling or looking about it. Plus you did say around $400.
