Thinking of buying a ATI Radeon 9600XT

However, does anyone know if it will fit into a motherboard(it is a MSI MS-6507E) for a mini tower casing? That's 'cos my computer was bought from HP and the newer graphic cards all look so huge! I'm quite afraid of buying the card and then finding out there's not enough space for it.

Thanks for reading! 🙂

From the looks of that pic. I would say yes, it would most likely fit. Here's a link to the mobo if anyone else wants to post their opinion. mobo

Thanks for the response! 🙂

Hmm well, I think that it most likely will fit in only if I remove one of my PCI cards. I currently use up 2 out of my 3 PCI slots but judging by the size of the fan on the card, I think I'll have to remove 1 card to make way for it, which might turn out to be a problem. That's 'cos 1 is a sound card and the other is some errr unknown card, which I suspect is for the IEEE 1394 feature the pc has(which I don't even use) and there's a connector from the pc plugged into it.

I wonder what would happen if I removed the card and unplugged the connector.... hmm, gotta try that later once I get my stuff done.

Anyway, I hope there's nothing much on the other side of the card(the side which doesn't have the fan). If it does, it's probably going to "collide" with the memory modules on my motherboard. And I hope not. Hopefully, I can get a picture of both sides of the card to see what it looks like.

*sighs* This will probably be the last time I'll ever buy a "branded" computer.

ATi cards are pretty small. I suspect the 9600XT will fit. AGP cards typically have nothing on the backside, so you shouldn't have to worry about anything hitting the memory modules (although, depending on the length of the 9600XT, you may have to remove it to fiddle with the memory slots). You shouldn't have to remove any PCI cards, either. Your MB looks like a typical microATX board, which means it's designed to accomodate standard cards like the 9600XT.

Okay, thank you so much for your replies! 🙂
That's 'cos I really have not much knowledge about hardware. =P
