What's to know? It's a large pot that heats cooking oil up to high temperatures. Just get one that is large enough to cook what you plan on cooking and you should be good.
Agreed. Heats a lot faster than the electric deep fryers too, and you have better control of the temperature of the oil. If you're going for one of those electric ones - fry daddy, etc., skip right over most of them & get the biggest one that they have at your local box store. Anything smaller, and you'll realize "this sucks" when you're cooking for more than 1 person. i.e. a fish fry.
I got one from Costco this winter. I think it went for around $36. It's still there if you have a membership. I've cooked tater tots and breaded fish...very good on both. Much better than any cheapo stuff you find on Amazon or a Walmart.
