title says it all, im thinking of adding 2 80mm fans to the side of my case, 3in holsaw is close to the right size, does anyone have experience with this? will it cut okay?
anyway, if you want to go the hole saw route, you can do what i did initially. get a smaller saw, and cut a clover. that is, 4 circles. i cut that way initially for my 120mm fans. i think i got a 2.5 inch saw or something.
a few months after that, i finished it off with a jigsaw.
I would say Holesaw's are best for a clean cut. Jigsaw's work as well, but I dont' think they cut as cleanly(I've used dremels, holesaws and jigsaws to do my case mods).
Yes a 3inch hole saw works great. But make sure you buy a good one are you will be sorry. I bought a Dewalt (the yellow one) from Lowe's and it worked great on my case.
look for "bi-metal." if you don't know anything, ask if you can use the saw for metal. don't forget to ask for cutting oil. don't forget you also need a drill bit to make the holes to screw or bolt the fan to the case.
make sure you have the piece you are cutting clamped. try not to use your body, your "knee" holding it down can bend the metal if you don't be careful. that is, if it is indeed a panel that you can remove.
