Primarily for the upcoming games such as BF4, and perhaps better performance/eye candy at my res on current games. The card is an MSI TF3, looks like I may be able to get a good deal on it, and I am thinking of pulling the trigger. Thoughts?

I have considered waiting for the next gen 9xxx series as well, but not sure when those would be available, and by the sound of it, they would be rather pricier, and GTX 780 prices dropping significantly don't seem likely IMO.

I just picked up another 7950 TF3 (used) I wish I could say I got a good deal on it, but I paid more for a cherry card. Should be getting it tomorrow, but won't be able to try it out until my SSD and PSU come back from RMA. Can't tell you how well it performs from experience yet, but a couple of other members have the setup and all of them seem pretty happy with it. At this point you might as well wait, unless you find a killer deal or are picky like me :) When the new AMD cards are released (OCT), I'm sure a lot of people will want to unload their 7950's to purchase the new cards. Of course this could backfire if the new cards suck or are barely faster, then people may just want to go CFX with their 7970/7950....?

I purchased 2 7950's TFIII's for 150 each off Craigslist last week. Pretty happy with them. WIsh I had bought the 3rd but I would have had to buy a new PSU

I am waiting till the news first, but in the mean time I missed the below nice deals on these cards I want to go with for CF and it kills me. :) If the $600.00 price is true, I just can't see the performance being that high that would cause not to want to CF my 7950 instead but I could be wrong. I just do not want any buyers remorse just in case so is why I have been waiting.

Sapphire 7950 Dual X $189.00.
MSI TF 7950 $184.00

I like mine for benchmarks, but it seems to spend more time sitting on my desk than in my system anymore.

By now its public information that HD 9900 cards based on the Hawaii chip are going to be unveiled to the press on Sep 25th with a mid-Oct retail launch. :)

so wait till mid-oct and check out reviews for pricing and performance and then decide if you want to go for single HD 9950 or HD 7950 CF.

At this point I think you should just wait to see how things shake out. New AMD cards, Nvidia refresh, etc. Any deal on a 7950 will surely be there in a month or so imo, and we'll have a much better understanding of BF4's performance.

ya, I have waited this long, and it sounds like the deals will still be there, so ya, I guess I will wait.

Definitely wait imo, prices shouldn't go up. (At least historically they haven't)

The one thing I do think is that if the 9950 goes for say $450 I don't see how it can force the 7950 below $180 where it's currently been on sale. Even if it were 200% the performance the 7950 is still a better deal than the 9950 (price/performance), so I have my doubts if we'll see lower prices unless the 9950 is extremely good, or cheaper than $450.

Either way, people will upgrade and those are where you may find a better deal. If the 7950 is $180 (sales) then a second hand one should be $150 or less.

It seems we will not see awesome deals like the sub-200 custom aftermarket 7950's in a long time.
