Thinking about upgrading to N...

Right now, at my old house, I have an old Linksys WRT54G wired between my modem and computer. So my desktop is hooked up through CAT5. At my new house, I am going to have to go wireless on my desktop as the modem is going to be in the basement with my other computer that is hooked up to a projector for a movie room. I use my main desktop for games and some downloading, and we will be getting internet that is 15mbps. I would like to max out this connection, wirelessly. I have this adapter: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833166041

If my desktop is in the room right above the router, what are the chances of maxing out my download speed? I have been eying a refurbed Linksys WRT160N router on Amazon for $20, would this be good enough for the basic things I am looking to do? I'll probably also be transferring files between my desktop and the movie room computer, but I am not so worried about the maximum speed of the transfer.

Thanks for any help, if I should look at another router or another adapter I'm open to suggestions.

Things have changed a bit, the cable guy put the modem on my computer upstairs and we are probably going to run ethernet from the router in my room to the computer downstairs. So now I am thinking about just getting a gigabit switch and keeping my dated WRT54G until it dies.

From a technology and speed improvement, N will offer both with a small increase in "range". Always get a dual band one, same for clients.
