Thinking about upgrading...need suggestions

i'm thinking about upgrading but don't know if i have the money. upgrading from 9700pro, 512 kingston hyperx 3000, xp2100+ (overclocked @ 1.85ghz), asus a7n8x-x (no, this isn't the deluxe version).

i'm not looking for a huge upgrade. just wondering what is the best bang for the buck right now and how that system would compare to mine. I do want at least 1gig of memory though.

I think moving to A64 would be what I would do with that system. Does your hyperx run at pc3200? You could add another 512mb of pc3200 for about $50 or so.

A basic A64 system with AGP would be
about $70 for a motherboard (gigabyte 754)
and
$150 for a 3000+ A64

What's your budget like?

There are plenty of benchmarks in the CPU area of AT for you to look at to see what kind of performance jump this would get you.

If you want to try to get a videocard instead, I wouldn't get anything under an X800XL or 6800gt if you already have a 9700pro. In AGP the prices are very close so I'd get a 6800gt. Newegg has a 6800gt for $310
