I have a good job and good friends, but my life seems to be the same thing everyday. I really want to break out of this rut. Getting away from everything for a while sounds like a great idea.

Has anyone here every just taken a month off of work and moved to another city for a month?

No, but you can go to Seattle or Denver and live like a hippie for a month, get it out of your system

If you're going somewhere for a month, it's not called moving there or living there. I spent 25 days on vacation in Thailand and Vietnam last year.

Commit some petty vandalism and get sentenced to 30 days in jail; it's a great way to break out of the rut and it helps you realize that "boredom" is a really preposterous reason to whine about your life. If you're not up for that, go some place tropical and spend a month on a beach drinking rum drinks from hollowed out coconuts. Warning; this second one will not inspire positive feelings upon returning to your original life.

That's the idea. Just go someplace and completely break the daily cycle. I think it's a mix of wanderlust and being burnt out at work.

Take a road trip - see all the parks etc. Drive to Alaska. Do something epic. If you have the $$ travel overseas.

Ehh, longest vacation I think I've taken was about 3 weeks. My grandparents took me with them to Alaska and the Yukon for a trip after I graduated high school.

Since then, I usually take 1-2 week road trip somewhere each year. When money is tight, I still get paid vacation time, so I would travel to visit family out of town for a while. When I have been in better financial shape, I might instead take a cruise for a week and spend a few days in some place warm during the winter...
