Thinking about registering for the Oracle Applications Development class

I work in finance for a large .com and we rely heavily on our data warehouse to obtain metrics information. I have taught myself a decent amount of SQL in the 3 months I have been here but I would like to expand my knowledge.

My company is such that 1-1.5 yrs down the road, I do have to flexibilty to rotate into any of the various departments. Has anyone in finance taken a course in Oracle? If not in finance, what are your impressions about Oracle and how important is it to be well versed in Oracle in the information industry?

In sight into this matter is appreciated. 🙂
