Thinking about putting Linux on my laptop

So I decided to maybe go ahead and put a Linux distro (most likely SuSE) on my R50 ThinkPad. But my questions mostly involve how difficult it may be to incorporate it onto my home workgroup so I can still use it to open shared files on other computers running XP. I also have a wireless network I would want to set this up on and am wondering how easy it is to do so as well. I'm not a complete Linux noob, I have installed it on PC's in the past but other things got in the way of me doing much with it. I guess my fear is that laptop Linux drivers arn't readily available. Can you guys maybe recommend an OS or website to help me along with doing something like this? Thanks.

I have an R50e Thinkpad, I have FC4 running on it, not only that but I have all the fancy features that you can think of that work in Winxp working in Linux, even the OSD. It's so easy to get all things up and running for you in FC4 and for that extra step towards achieving a much better compatability go to the link in my sig, PM me if yo need anything I'll be here for a while 😀.
